About Denise Symon

St. Mirin Dog Training was started in Paisley in 1986. As the first dog training club in the Renfrewshire area, we have given advice on the care and training of an average of 200 dogs every year since then.

All our courses are backed up with dog training course notes and every student receives our fantastic newsletter for six months post-completion of your course, keeping you up to date with upcoming courses, news and events.

St. Mirin Dog Training Club is led by dog trainer, Denise Symon, a qualified veterinary nurse, who has worked with dogs for decades. She has trained 18 dogs of her own, competing as a junior and senior in the regional obedience and rally obedience at Crufts Dog Show.

As well as obedience, her dogs have also been successfully shown in the breed ring, in the competitive sport of dog agility and more recently in Rally Trials.

Other animal handling work includes TV, film and theatre work.

Denise has studied with AbsoluteDogs in Devon and Dr Tom Mitchell, vet behaviourist, to become a certified Pro Dog Trainer, Pro Trainer Geek and Pro Trainer Genius. This is a unique, proven method of training dogs and puppies for everyday life using games. As part of an ongoing commitment, trainers who achieve this certification must keep up to date with different training methods and deliver best practice.

She currently owns Charlotte, Rita, Kevin, Colin, Emily, Roo, Bridget - all chihuahuas, and Goose, a Lurcher.

All our training is games based, making it easy to use and fit in to everyday life
